Disney’s New Look of the Day: Starting February 3rd, Disneyland employees will be allowed to grow a beard following a landmark revision to the Walt Disney Company’s infamous “Disney Look.”
Some restrictions apply: The facial hair can’t be longer than a quarter-inch. And soul patches are still prohibited as well they should be.
Many of the other notoriously strict dress codes are still in place as well: No tattoos, body piercings, “extreme” hairstyles, and straps on sleeveless tops must be at least 3 inches wide.
Still, the acceptance of beards marks an important attitude adjustment at the House that Cartoon Mice Built.
“They want to stay tradition-based, and they also want to be current,” Disney culture chronicler David Koenig told the LA Times. “They don’t want it to become a museum of what entertainment used to be like.”

Pro-Marriage Equality Mayors of the Day: The mayors of New York City, Los Angeles, Boston, Chicago, Houston, San Diego, and dozens of other cities across the country have announced the formation of a coalition in support “of the freedom of same-sex couples to marry.”
Mayors for Freedom to Marry brings together 78 mayors and counting under the banner of marriage equality.
In a statement released jointly with the LGBT group Freedom to Marry, the mayors express their unequivocal belief that all people deserve the right “to marry the person with whom they share their life.”
The statement continues:
We stand for the freedom to marry because it enhances the economic competitiveness of our communities, improves the lives of families that call our cities home, and is simply the right thing to do. We look forward to working to build an America where all people can share in the love and commitment of marriage with the person with whom they share their life.
The complete statement and a full list of mayors who have joined the initiative can be seen here.

“Happy Holidays from the Obama Family & Stefon.”
Just lol’d so loud at work. I freaking LOVE Stefon.
Thanks Meg!
Congrats, asshole. You have the most dislikes of any YouTube video. Ever.
Also, nice jacket, but Heath wore it better….
I really do think Six Feet Under is the best show of all time. I finished the series back in 2008, but have been awaiting an excuse to watch it all over again.
Since The Walking Dead is on hiatus and Dexter is soon to be over, Kate and I decided now would be a good time to start Six Feet Under. And, after only two episodes, I’m re-obsessed. It’s SO GOOD.
Today marks the last day of ‘No Shave November’, and I’m the only one in the office that made it the full month. Not that that’s much of an accomplishment, I look like a mountain man.
Anyhoo, excited to shave tomorrow morning and also get a haircut. Returning to civilization in 3… 2… 1…
(Also, timelapse video of my beard to be posted soon-ish)
